Ryan Littlechilds has trained for many years in a variety of martial arts and combat sports, and has been teaching karate for over 20 years. As both a martial artist and educator, he brings a disciplined, practical, and student-centred approach to karate instruction.
Ryan strives to provide high-quality JKA Shotokan Karate for students of all ages and experience levels. He continues to develop his own karate and teaching through regular training, instructor courses, qualification examinations, and opportunities to learn from elite JKA instructors. His instruction is rooted in the traditional balance of kihon, kata, and kumite, with an emphasis on strong basics, correct form, focused effort, and continual improvement.
At Vancouver Mind-Body Centre, Ryan teaches multiple age-specific karate classes throughout the week. His classes balance character development, self-defence skills, athleticism, and competition, while encouraging students to develop confidence, respect, discipline, perseverance, and self-control.
Through JKA Vancouver at VMBC, Ryan aims to bring out the best in each student by helping them strengthen their character, sharpen their technique, and discover their potential both inside and outside the dojo.
